Sunsets & Seascapes, Algarve

After living in the Algarve, I've discovered the enchanting beauty of the South West coast of Portugal. From Porto Covo to Alvor, this coastline offers abundant photogenic spots on the Alentejo coast, Costa Vicentina Natural Park and Western Algarve

OVERVIEW

The Algarve’s southwestern edge is a study in contrasts—where golden cliffs crumble into turquoise waves and Europe’s last sunset lingers over Cape St. Vincent’s lighthouse. Based in Sagres, we’ll immerse ourselves in this wild coastline’s rhythms, chasing light from dawn’s first glow on Ponta da Piedade’s sea caves to the moment twilight sets the cliffs of Praia da Cordoama aflame. Here, every cove tells a story, and our single-base approach lets us pivot with the winds to find the day’s most luminous scenes.

From Lagos’ cathedral-like rock formations to Alvor’s sculpted sea stacks, we’ll master composition along nature’s own gallery. Mornings might find us framing the Ria de Alvor’s tidal patterns, while afternoons explore Sagres’ fortress cliffs where Atlantic swells explode against 200-foot walls. When night falls and skies clear, we’ll train our lenses upward—this is one of Europe’s last Bortle 3 zones, where the Milky Way arcs over deserted beaches like a celestial bridge. Even stormy days dazzle, transforming caves like Benagil into glowing marble chambers.

This is the Algarve untamed. Where fisher’s trails lead to secret viewpoints, and every shoot balances raw nature with warm Portuguese hospitality. You’ll leave not just with striking images of iconic arches and starlit coves, but with the instincts to chase light wherever your lens takes you next.
